About Sanctuary Church

At Sanctuary Church we understand that many people feel stuck in their faith. It’s easy to go through the motions of religion without experiencing real change, leaving you frustrated and searching for something more meaningful. We believe faith is meant to be vibrant, personal and transformative not just a routine.

That’s why we’re here. Sanctuary Church is a welcoming community where anyone can come and experience the life-changing love of God. We’re passionate about becoming more like Jesus and we believe that by His power lives can be transformed – both inside our church and out in our local community.

Whether you’ve been a Christian for years or are just beginning to explore faith Sanctuary Church offers a place to grow, ask questions and find purpose. Through worship, prayer and connection with others we aim to help people experience God in a personal way and live out their faith every day.

Our community is grounded in the Bible, but we’re not just about tradition. We want to create a space where the Holy Spirit moves freely, bringing real transformation to people’s lives. From Sunday worship to our children’s ministry, from prayer meetings to community outreach, everything we do is focussed on helping you grow in your faith and experience God’s love.

Statement of Faith

At Sanctuary Church our faith is rooted in the timeless truths of Christianity. We uphold the Nicene Creed, a historic confession of the Christian faith that unites believers across the world.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God,
Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made;
of one essence with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic  and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.

Amen.

What this means practically for us at Sanctuary:

1. God’s love for all
We believe that God loves every person, no matter who they are. Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that we can all know God’s love forever. By God’s grace anyone who repents and places their faith in Jesus as their personal Saviour is born again by the Holy Spirit, becoming a child of God and a co-heir with Jesus.

2. Loving others like Jesus
Jesus calls us to love others just as He loves us. This is why everyone is welcome at Sanctuary Church no matter where they are on their journey of faith.

3. The power of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the promise of Christ to every believer. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to every Christian, empowering us to bless and serve others in love.

4. The authority of scripture
We believe that the Bible – the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments – is the inspired word of God. Through it we experience God’s character and learn how to shape our lives according to His will.

5. Transformation through the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is continually at work in us, transforming us to become more like Jesus in character and in action.

6. Our faith shapes our vision
This statement of faith is the foundation of everything we do at Sanctuary Church. It underpins our mission, our vision and our commitment to seeing lives transformed by the power of Jesus.
